Meet The Storyboard + The Buttons
The two newest members of the Mustard family are here, and they're ready to bring your vision to life!
Designed to work beautifully together (and with your lockers), The Storyboard and The Buttons are all about giving your wishes some wallspace, dreaming big and making your plans stick! Becca and Jess share more about how they came to be.
Long before The Storyboard was born, we had the seed of an idea — a product to help visualise, organise and daydream in real life. We both like to see things physically when we're being creative or coming up with new ideas! Back when we were planning Mustard, we'd often sit down and cut things out of magazines or grab colour swatches from the paint shop so we could see our ideas coming together.
That desire to lay things out visually is deeply ingrained — a habit that started at home. Growing up, we had a large noticeboard hanging by the kitchen, lovingly handmade by our mum. It was covered in floral fabric and criss-crossed with ribbons, and was the unofficial hub of our family's life. The Storyboard is our version of that. It's generous in size (we like to say it's chunky!), magnetic (of course), and comes in our signature colours. It's here to help you dream big and make things happen!
for the dreamers and the doers
For me (Becca), The Storyboard is more than just a functional piece — it's a home for my lifelong habit of collecting sentimental treasures. I am a massive sentimental hoarder! I've kept so many birthday cards, photographs and notes. I even have a piece of paper that my grandmother wrote, that was just a note about reheating her lunch!
The Storyboard offers me (and any other sentimental hoarders) a dedicated space to gather these special pieces in one place, where they're not only seen but celebrated.
Jess says one of the ways she'll be using The Storyboard is to recreate the wall like our mum had when we were young, perhaps by hanging more than one together. It'll be a central place to keep important notes but also photos and memories that sum up her family!
make a statement
One of the things we love most about The Storyboard is its generous size. The scale of it really excites us! Even though we knew the dimensions, it's so much more spacious than we expected it to be in real life. It's big enough to hold a lot and feel full, but also be really practical.
We also love how chunky it is. We love the sexiness of the depth and how it sits off the wall, making it a three-dimensional object in any room. It's a beautiful blank canvas. And then of course, it comes in our signature colours so there's plenty of opportunity to mix and match, put more than one together and hang them either landscape or portrait.
for home, work + play
The Storyboard has so much potential for home and family organisation. It's great for putting up kids' chores or to-do lists, schedules and reminders. You can also use it to display your kids' artwork or even as an educational tool in the playroom.
We've absolutely loved seeing how other creatives and founders are already using The Storyboard in their studios or workspaces as part of our Storytellers series. Each person has really inspired us with the different ways it can be used!
The fact that it's magnetic means it's super versatile and whatever you put on it can be moved around easily (unlike a traditional pinboard). So much of our lives are digital, but there's something so rewarding about having printed items you can touch and feel.
magnetic attraction
One of the things we've always loved about our lockers is that they're magnetic. It's one of the features we love to talk about whenever we're introducing them to new people! We've always used both the inside and the outside surfaces of our lockers — adding even more fun and functionality. The Buttons can be used on any of our products as well as The Storyboard and they look really cute, colourful and fun. They even make putting notes up on the fridge a bit more exciting!
Even though we have been working with magnetic products for about seven years now, magnets have actually always been a big part of our lives. Our dad is obsessed with magnets, so we have grown up with magnets in every drawer, every side table and every pocket. His desk at work is still covered with them and he collects them everywhere he goes! He is literally The Magnet Man. It really was inevitable that we would one day design some magnets of our own!
The Buttons are also an evolution of the keyrings we designed for The Glass Collection. We created beautiful enamel keyrings which are one of our favourite little details. That evolved into the design of The Buttons, using the same material and finish. We just love how cute but also sleek and practical they are. They're magnetic in more ways than one!
