Inside Charlotte Jacklin's feminine + functional vintage-inspired home
Welcome to Charlotte Jacklin's world, where vintage dresses, striped wallpaper and pretty florals are the order of the day. It's no wonder the content creator and podcaster has amassed a following of almost 100 thousand on Instagram – a peek into her life is a breath of (charming, pastel-coloured) fresh air.
"It must have happened very young," Charlotte says of when she first fell in love with interiors. "My parents were keen on interiors, and were always doing up our spaces on a budget." The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Prior to her current home, Charlotte says "We previously lived in a flat for a couple of years, and I started experimenting there. I began to find my style in this house as I realised interiors have a real effect on my mood."
Charlotte describes her home style as "quite feminine, and quite floral, with lots of vintage inspiration. However as much as I like to make it appeal aesthetically to me, it has to work on a practical level too, as two young children live here." Pretty and practical? We're on the same page! Although Charlotte's home is beautifully tidy in these images, she's quick to point out that "normally there's toys everywhere, and arts and crafts happening in the dining room!" Charlotte is no stranger to lockers. We'll let her run you through them all! "We have a Sage Midi in our dining room that is used to store records and games. There's a Blush Skinny in my youngest daughter's room, this is leftover from when this room was my office, and stores my work bits and pieces. The Lowdown in Blush in our bedroom stores accessories and make up. And we have two Olive Shortys in our bedroom to store books and all the other bits and bobs you have next to your bed."

If you've noticed the pink and green theme, it's not just lockers – these colours are found throughout the home in paint, wallpaper and furniture choices. Charlotte says "It was honestly accidental! A lot was just a matter of being thrifty, using paint from one room in another. The fireplace is leftover paint from the bathroom, the wardrobes are painted with leftover paint from the kitchen. I'm now trying to add a few deeper hues, which I feel ground all the pastels, so using red and burgundy here and there to create a richer palette."
very versatile
Although each locker in Charlotte's home has a dedicated purpose, one of the things she loves most about Mustard pieces is how versatile they are! "I use all of them all daily. They are so practical for storage, and make everything look tidier, whilst having personality because of the colours they come in. Every time we need a new storage solution I head straight to Mustard. We've moved these lockers around in different rooms before now, and I know I will continue to do so in the future, they are so versatile." We couldn't agree more!
pretty + practical
There's no doubt that Charlotte's home is as pretty as they come, but as she's said, with small children at home practicality is high on the priority list too! So, which is most important to her? "It's an annoying answer, but both!" she says. "I really am 50/50, and think that having one doesn't have to mean you compromise on the other. Yes, I might like to have a pink velvet sofa instead of green if we didn't have young children, but because we have a green sofa I have a pink fireplace. So I kind of balance out a practical choice with an aesthetic one. It does mean things take longer, looking for the right solution, but I like doing it that way."
One of the nicest things about taking the slow approach is getting to look back at how far you've come. "Doing this shoot was so lovely," says Charlotte. "I was able to take time to appreciate every room one by one, and that was a nice reminder of how much we've done to this space to call it home."
