Five festive styling tips with Norsu
According to the saying, we eat with our eyes first. If you're planning a festive celebration, setting the table means setting the scene for a meal that looks as good as it tastes.
This year, our friends from Norsu created a festive tablescape so beautiful we had to look twice. The perfect cherry on top? Our shiny new Mixer in Chalk getting a place at the table – we couldn't be more thrilled to see her all dressed up in her Christmas best! After seeing these lovely images, we just had to pin down Nat from Norsu to find out her best tips for styling your celebrations this year.
functional is fun
"Christmas is my favourite excuse to transform everyday essentials into something extraordinary," Nat says. "It's all about finding those little moments to elevate what you already have." When styling The Mixer as a festive bar, Nat used practical tools like a cocktail shaker and muddler as decor. "We placed them on a beautiful marble tray from CoTheory for maximum impact. Styling is in the details – those little additions make the whole space feel intentional and put-together."
bottle it up
"We didn't just think about the drinks themselves, we thought about how they were presented," Nat explains. "Choosing bottles with beautifully designed labels made such a difference as they add an extra layer of visual interest." We know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but a bottle by its label? Let's make a special exception. It's Christmas, after all!
raise a glass
"Break out your nicest glassware, whether it's for cocktails or champagne, and you've instantly created a setup that feels both polished and inviting," Nat suggests. If you're looking for the perfect match for your Mixer, our custom glasses, The Flutes, are a showstopper! Let them shine behind the fluted glass doors, or pop them on top of your locker, ready for a toast.
embrace the season
Whatever you're celebrating, a little nod to the theme never goes astray. Nat opted for paper Christmas trees to bring the festive cheer. "We kept it simple and chic. Grouping them in pairs, both on top of the Mixer and inside its shelves, gave the setup a cohesive and festive look without overdoing it. It's those subtle, thoughtful touches that really make a space sing." Add in thoughtful details like velvet bows, linen napkins and Norsu's very own festive crackers, and you've got a recipe for some real Christmas magic.
food comes first!
Let's be honest, a big part of what makes this season so special is sharing a meal. Whether you do a traditional roast or it's all about the dessert, cramming it all onto the table can make for a tricky game of Tetris. Nat's tip? Don't! "I always use our kitchen island to house all of the food. Let's face it, the table decorations don't allow much space for shared dishes!" Now that the food's out of the way, you can go all out with your table styling. Enjoy (and save us some pudding!)
