Making it pop: step inside Poppy's playful pink and red bedroom

A young girl sits on a bed reading books in her pink and red styled bedroom, with a Blush pink locker as her bedside table.

What's red, pink and striped all over? It's Poppy's new bedroom, of course!

Confession time: we're a little jealous of our co-founder Jess' daughter Poppy's bedroom. Fresh from renovating their London terrace, Jess teamed up with friend and interior designer Lisa from Born & Bred Studio to create a space that's as colourful and whimsical as it is practical, filled with all the special details that make it unmistakably Poppy’s world.

Make it pop

It wouldn't be a mini Mustard bedroom without a Mustard-inspired colour palette. But with so many great colours in our rainbow, how did Jess and Lisa narrow it down? With our bold cherry red literally named after Poppy herself, that was the perfect place to start.

From there, they thought about complementary colours that would complete the look. Jess says she's always loved seeing the ombre effect of our Blush, Berry and Poppy lockers together. Choosing just three shades to mix, match and complement each other helped make the decorating process that little bit easier. The Blush and Poppy striped walls? Nope, it's not wallpaper! They were meticulously hand-painted and make for such a fun feature.

"Poppy, Blush and Berry is the perfect mix of confident and sweet — just like Poppy!"

Dressing up

A favourite piece in Poppy's bedroom is her Twinny wardrobe, which has housed her clothes since she was born. From teeny tiny newborn onesies, to her favourite sparkly dresses and now her first ever school uniform, The Twinny has grown with Poppy through all the magic milestones. With its adjustable shelves and hanging rails, The Twinny is not only versatile, but it also means Poppy's clothes are stored right at her level, so she can choose her outfits and dress herself.

"Every night before bed, Poppy and I open up her Twinny and choose her outfit for the next day. It's become a lovely evening ritual."

Poppy's story

Poppy's Storyboard has quickly become one of the stars of her room, filled with photos of all her favourite people and places (including her very special cousins who live all the way away in Australia). It's hung at her height and with her magnetic Buttons, Poppy can move the pictures around as she pleases, creating a colourful display that reflects her own little personality, dreams and goals.

Little library

Using four Small Ledges, Jess has created a mini library for Poppy's favourite books. They not only look great and add another pop of colour to the walls, but they also make choosing bedtime stories much more fun. Tip: rotate the books regularly based on the season, colour themes or whatever your little one is loving!

Playful yet practical, colourful yet clever, Poppy’s bedroom is uniquely her. With its stripes, soft furnishing and plenty of lockers, it's a joyful reminder that the right mix of planning and creativity can truly make a space pop.
